2018 Schedule of Online Courses


The Maritime Resource Management Online Course offered by the Calhoon MEBA Engineering School (CMES) is meant for Maritime Officers to satisfy the following training and certification requirements: Engine Room Resource Management - Management Level, Engine Room Resource Management - Operational Level, Leadership and Management – Deck and Engineering, Leadership and Teamworking – Engineering, Original and Renewal.

This two-week course is a scheduled participation course. It contains activities that must be completed satisfactorily in order to satisfy the course requirements. Course lessons are presented sequentially, and are scheduled to begin and end on a specific date and time. The student must be available to complete course work and to participate in group activities according to the schedule set out in the course syllabus and lesson availability schedule.


Prerequisites: None

Special Requirements: Basic computer skills are needed to handle the requirements of an online learning environment.

USCG Approval: 

Any applicant who has successfully completed the Maritime Resource Management Online (MEBAMD-814) course will satisfy:

  1. Engine Resource Management training requirements of 46 CFR 11.325(a)(3)(i) and (b)(1); 46 CFR 11.327(a)(3)(i) and (b)(1); 46 CFR 11.329(a)(4)(iv); 46 CFR 11.331(a)(3)(i) and (b)(1); and 46 CFR 11.333(a)(3)(i) and (b)(1); AND
  2. Task 1.4, found in the National Assessment Guidelines, NVIC 17-14, Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch; AND
  3. The Leadership and Managerial Skills training requirements of 46 CFR 11.305(a)(3)(iv) and (b)(1); 46 CFR 11.307(a)(3)(iv) and (b)(1); 46 CFR 11.311(a)(3)(iv): 46 CFR11.313(a)(3)(iv); 46 CFR 11.325(a)(3)(ii) and (b)(2); 46 CFR 11.327(a)(3)(ii) and (b)(2); 46 CFR 11.331(a)(3)(ii) and (b)(2); 46 CFR 11.333(a)(3)(ii) and (b)(2); AND
  4. Tasks 18.1.A – 18.2.A, found in the National Assessment Guidelines, NVICs 10-14 and 11-14; AND
  5. Tasks 11.1.A, 12.1.A, and 14.1.A, found in the National Assessment Guidelines, NVICs 15-14 and 16-14; AND
  6. The Leadership and Teamworking Skills training requirements of 46 CFR 11.329(a)(3) and 46 CFR 11.329(c); AND
  7. Tasks 16.1.A and 16.2.A, found in the National Assessment Guidelines, NVIC 17-14.
  8. Tasks 16.3.A and 16.4.A, found in the National Assessment Guidelines, NVIC 17-14.

NOTE:  Applicants are not required to submit completed Record of Assessments for the Tasks listed above.



All students taking CMES online courses are required to take the final exam at a Prometric Testing Center in the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands.  After all coursework is completed, the student will be provided with the necessary information and authorization to schedule the final exam at a Prometric office location that is convenient to him or her.

  • Testing MUST be scheduled and completed no later than 30 days from the date that CMES contacts the student with authorization to test at Prometric.
  • The course certificate will be mailed to the student within 10 business days of successful completion of the final exam at Prometric, to the student's address of record at the time of course registration.
